Course Outline

Objective: Respond to a simulated cramp for either you or your buddy.

Value: A cramp can occur easily when scuba diving. Knowing how to respond will let you continue your dive in comfort.

How It’s Done:

  • If you get a cramp in your leg:
    • Stop, relax, and pull the tip of the fin toward you to stretch out the leg muscles.
    • Continue to swim slowly so that the muscle can recover.
  • If your buddy has cramp, place his or her heel on your shoulder, lock his or her knee down, and massage the affected area.
