Some corals are now known to emit bioluminescence which can be seen using specialized lights and filters at night. The luminescence makes for an amazing and unusual experience, showing that reefs have an intriguingly different character when the sun goes down. Night dives are outside the scope of this course’s certification, but this specialty is one you should consider if your adventures are going to take you to a coral reef.
